So I tried to make a giant cupcake birthday cake for my friend Marilis tonight and it was a total disaster. Pictures are coming soon…
Luckily everyone was drunk when we showed up with the cake and were even drunker when they (not we) ate it. I really hope no one wakes up with food poisoning…
(You can order this cake dish made for baking giant cupcake cakes, if you’re willing to blow $30 on the novelty)

Red blood cells: close ups of the human body
I’ve always found red blood cells really delicious looking. Like red gummies. Chomp chomp chomp.

When we stepped out of the cab with our cake on Sarah’s perfect pink cake tray, we actually got a cheer from the crowd standing outside the bar. This may or may not have been related to the amount of stoned they were, but either way, it was a pretty good party entrance.

So, like I said, we tried to make a giant cupcake cake for my friend Marilis’ birthday last night. We started by making four circular cakes to stack on top of each other, but Sarah’s oven wasn’t working properly so only two of the cakes cooked all the way through. The other two burned but stayed liquid on the inside, as we discovered while trying to flip them out of the pans.
In the end, we stacked the two good cakes on top of each other, applied an entire container of expired “pink flavour” icing, and decorated with sprinkles and a cherry. If we hadn’t been already late at this point, I think we could have recovered some representational points by icing the sides with chocolate icing and using a knife to draw horizontal lines on the “paper cup”.
