I had the day off work today and spent it cleaning up the house. I unpacked 3 suitcases of clothes that had been untouched from 3 separate trips I’ve taken since we moved in this summer. I went through all my clothes and got together 3 garbage bags of laundry and 2 bags to donate.

We also reorganized more generally, moving our Fixture stuff out of the kitchen and into the living room (such a good move) and setting up a good desk space in our bedroom. Our tiny apartment feels comfortable again and Halifax put me in the right mood to maintain this new order for a while.

This sounds really cool. It’s basically a beautiful box of limited edition multimedia objects, published periodically, including audio, video, text, images, and textiles. I’m looking forward to checking it out at their launch party in a few weeks.

Palimpsest Magazine 01 - the inaugural issue - is curated by Danielle St-Amour and Tess Edmonson, and exists in an exclusive run of only 50 issues. 01 features fine art works by Chris Foster, Matt King, Peter Thompson, Aisling Macken and Stacey Ho; writing by Neil Holyoak and Tess Edmonson; video works by Willie Brisco, Tobias Rochman, Brendan Reed, Christopher Mills and Kevin Hainey; and a mixtape-cassette curated by Shub Roy of Grand Trine/Pink Noise and Mark Fragua of Wax Attic/Ultrathin.

Launch party at Drawn and Quarterly (211 rue Bernard Ouest) in Montreal on Thursday, November 12th, 7-10pm.

Expensive hair conditioner, I can’t afford this crap on my own, but oy what bleaching does to my locks, oy!
Just Us! coffee. Excellent, yummy, locally owned, co-op, fair trade, organic…
6 pack white sports socks. It just sucks to buy these in your own city. I’m totally stocked now.
Fresh garlic from my mom’s friend’s garden. I have a whole paper bag full of these things to take back with me. They’re soo much better than store bought garlic, it’s crazy. And I’m a bit of a garlic fiend.

Reuters: U.N. to send Iraqi refugees food aid by text message:

“They will be able to exchange their electronic vouchers for rice, wheat flour, lentils, chickpeas, oil and canned fish, as well as cheese and eggs—items that cannot usually be included in conventional aid baskets,” [WFP spokeswoman Emilia Casella] told a Geneva news briefing.

Virtually all the 130,000 Iraqis who now regularly receive WFP food assistance in Syria have mobile phones, and the U.N. agency often sends text messages to tell them where food staples will be distributed, the spokeswoman said.

Casella described it as a way to help refugees eat a more diversified diet while also supporting local farmers and businesses.
